Infinite Reflection by holydak Infinite Reflection by holydak
Block out the world and concentrate only on reflection of oneself. :meditate:

While I was in Florida I did a lot of reflecting. The book "Zen in the Martial Arts" by Joe Hyams was given to me by my sensei and has really made an impact on me both in the martial arts world and as a person. If you're a martial artist I recommend reading it. ^^

Great picture..
As much as i would like to take a picture like that, i would hate to fall in the water, considering i cant swim LOL

but i'll look into the book..

It was a bit south of Orlando. My grandparents live on a lake there. Thanks so much! ^_^

have you ever seen that movie, Garden State? this picture reminds me alot of the guy in that and his blankly mooded expressionism no matter how vibrant and stirring the world is around him. youre so good at these sky and water pictures of reflection. its too bad that the sky is so grainy in this one but its still a very moving piece.

Actually no, I never did see that movie. I was also upset with how the sky turned out. It looked fine in color but when I tried to transfer it to gray it got all grainy -_-; Thanks!

This is underexposed and grainy. The wood on the left side of the picture is a major distraction and it leaves this otherwise symmetric photo with a feeling of being unbalanced. Nice idea, though.

Grainy cause I do not have a great camera. I purposely put the wood because it draws the eye down toward the subject. Thanks for the crit.

i think she has a point. the eye is already drawn to the subject because its almost dead center, and also because its not a busy photograph. the rest of the photo i love though. great shot :thumbs up:

lol, ignore her comments please for reasons I'm not going to get into. However, thanks for letting me know know what you thought about the railing. It's there for two reasons actually. One, because I DID intend for it to lead the eye toward the subject. And two, it was impossible to cut out AND (caps for stressing not yelling :) ) get the angle I wanted. So it was gonna be there anyways. :lmao: Thanks very much though; constructive (much stress there) crit like this is very welcome and I really appreciate it. :)

oh, i see your point now. i think it definitely does lead the eye towards the person (you, right?). anyways, i think the photo is very cool, regardless of her comment haha ;)

Wows... that's both really really inspiriing and REALLY REALLY depressing. -blushy- It's like... the only escape is through the infinity. -blushy-

hehe, well it shouldn't really be depressing. Just reflecting upon oneself ^^

I think it's the lighting... the gray light with the shady blues... it inspires a sense of frailty and sadness. -for me at least- The colors combind with the lone man standing on the end of the pier... -nods- Yeah.... it just kind of gets me all emotional tangled. I love the shot and WOOTs to you for evoking an emotion out of ME. -grins- All though... my boyfriend would tell you that I'm the most emotionaly unstable person on the planet. -grins-

True. The lighting sorta would cause that kind of mood. Not really waht I was going for. But art is about how it affects ppl really. Thanks for your view on it! :D

oh, if you're interested in such literature, there's a book called "kodo" and something about ancient ways. It's been a while since I've read it but I think you may enjoy it as well.

BTW: awesome picture :3 +fav it's so peaceful and serene... *sigh*
